Hope for Sacred Heart

Today being the Feast of the Solemnity of Mary and a Holy Day of Obligation, my family and I went to Mass. Our family parish's Mass was at ten in the morning (which is a little too early for us after New Year's Eve), so we went to Sacred Heart Cathedral's 11:15 Mass. I still wasn't particularly pleased, as it was before noon and at the Cathedral.

I still don't understand the layout of the church itself--it confuses me. But the priest who said Mass was fabulous! According to Mum, he was ordained fairly recently. Apparently, his first name is Edison and none of us know his last name, so I'll just call him Father Edison. His homily was marvellous. He described how, as a young boy, his grandmother dragged him to church, and this made him think a lot. (I think it must have influenced him QUITE a bit, since he's a priest!) He told us about how he always marvelled at how amazing, mysterious, and mind-blowing (mostly my adjectives because I don't remember exact wording) it was that a human creature, Mary, could receive God and be the Mother of God, as she gave birth to Jesus. Father also noted that we receive God in the Eucharist, and that it is another amazing mystery as to how we can take God into ourselves every week.

He may be very young, but I'm willing to vote that he becomes pastor somewhere soon! Hopefully somewhere nearby. He's extremely nice, too.

His name is Fr. Edison Tayag, and he is originally from the Philippines. He was ordained in in 2008 and went back to Rome for a year to finish his studies (sacred theology, I believe.)
He is a wonderful priest and an great homilist!
He arrived this June and the Cathedral Community is very lucky to have him! I pray he has a long and fruitful career in the DOR, we need more men like him!

Ah, we figured he was Filipino. His methods of speech did not match up with any of the other Asian patterns with which I am already familiar (Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese) and Mum remembers when he was ordained.

I love listening to him speak, he has so many fantastic things to say!

Fr Edison is an absolutely awesome priest and an absolutely awesome guy. I've had a couple opportunities to spend time with him. I haven't heard him say Mass yet, but I would like to.

Jesus died when he read your blog. You effectively killed Jesus. You should be ashamed.
